Jerome Robbins Retrospective

An exploration of the Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center led to my understanding that while it has an incrediblewealth of resources, including a massive archive of recorded performances that most would have no opportunity to see, many people may dismiss it out of hand due to the fact that the building itself is more of a traditional library, and not traditional in the way the main NYPL Building is. The goal of this project was to create an event that would make people aware of what is available to them at the library, and that event ended up being a summer series of presentations at Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center of some of the library’s recorded performances. The first of these summer events would be dedicated to Jerome Robbins, a leading figure in American Dance and for whom the Dance Division of the Library is named.
