I was commissioned through a friend of a friend to draw some illustrations for a paper being submitted to a medical journal. Although some changes occurred along the way, I was entirely happy to see my illustrations in a scientific work. Only after the full finished text was posted and linked to me was I informed that it was Oxford Press that had published it, so it was quite an honor for someone who had never been published before, anywhere, ever.
