With P80 Touch Screen Display and Networked Fitness Solution
This project involved the design evolution of Precor's 966i treadmill designed in 2006 to include the new P80 console with touch screen display and a full networked fitness solution. The 15" capacitive touch screen display floats with a wrap-around console space and is flanked by two large storage pockets on either side. There are 3 different displays that can be mounted in this location including two more cost sensitive models. The wrap-around console creates a sense of personal space for each user and addresses potential safety concerns by allowing users to grab the over-molded hand rails in an emergency.
The TRM 885 is the top-of-the-line treadmill for commercial facilities, renowned for its performance and durability. A 3° decline option and maximum speed of 16 mph are unique to the TRM 885. Equipped with Integrated Footplant Technology™ (IFT) and Ground Effects® Impact Control (GFX), the TRM 885 delivers a smooth and natural feel when running or walking.
The P80 console floats inside of the large, wrap-around console. Features include two large storage pockets for keys, iPods, and water bottles, a prominent and easily accessible STOP key for emergencies, and ergonomically placed hand held heart rate grips for checking your heart rate.
The over-molded side handle bars blend smoothly into the injection-molded console. The integrated rear endcap provides a clean appearance and a guard to prevent objects from getting pulled into the moving belt on the back of the treadmill.

Users can easily access the capacitive touch screen display while walking or running. All main machine controls and other features that are frequently accessed are easily within the users reach. The display angle is set at 60 degrees to allow for heads up viewing while working out.
The same display that is used on the treadmill can be mounted on any of Precor's other commerical cardio fitness products. It is a universal display and mounting solution to keep costs and SKU count down.
