“But I found out that bones without flesh are more interesting than bones with. “

Inspired by Van Gogh’s painting “Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette”, this sequence of works comprised series of works targeting the human skulls and death.

Although the human skull with its large eye sockets may displays a degree of fear, but men would still often find visually appealing—when it obviously represents dead. As such, human skulls and bones often have always a greater visual appeal, for me at least, and there comes the fascinating fact that it can fascinate even as they repel.

Faced with images of skulls one is reminded of death, a topic of taboo in our society, which may be challenging; but definitely formative. As with courage of heart one can laugh in the face of death, overcome one’s fear and translate a negative to positive, translating death to peace.
