A medal designed and struck at the request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer to mark 70 years since the liberation of Bergen - Belsen concentration camp.
I am very aware of the Shoah/holocaust and the challenges attached to representing such a sensitive subject. The choice of the cut barbed wire revealing light and clarity universally speaks of freedom from oppression.
It was also my duty to create the icon which is representative of the eternal flame that is present at many memorials to the Shoah/Holocaust.
