For Cornerstone Roots | Raglan | New Zealand CD-Album Design
Cornerstone Roots is an New Zealand Reggae Band based in Raglan. When Cornerstone Roots sent me the first email to asked me if I want to to do the artwork for the next album, they thought I’m based in Germany. It turned out I lived up the road at that time.
The album is called "FUTURE IS NOW" and tells the story about the power over the people, the power of media delivering news and our dependents on a few people making rules, called the capitalistic government.
Concept of the design is to tell the story of how media gets in our brains and just a few control us. These few are illustrated as the elite controlling the mother ship. The mother ship is powered by the juice and manipulated brains of the people. The people think it was their own will to get a second brain. The truth is the commercials in the flying televisions everywhere made them believe ....
Brian the head of CR calls the powerful media influence, poison. The bright green in the artwork gets associated with poison.
The artwork was drawn in single illustrations to be flexible to be used on merchandise like T-shirts, website, CD-Album and posters in order to create one world and fans recognise products in conjunction with the new album instantly. All illustrations together tell the story from first encounter with the 'poison' until being a slave for the heads of the world of capitalism.
