Laura Spence Photography Logo

As with all my logo designs everything starts with pencil and paper and very quick rough sketches of ideas. Out of all my ideas these were the 2 that I thought the client would feel fitted her brief the most. As I know Laura and she is creative I wanted her to be part of the whole design process so she would feel more conected to her final logo.
As my pencil sketches are very rough the first thig I did was create a baby in Illustrator and then created to very rough logo designs for Laura to see. The first design I felt was very much like a lot of other designs that are out there, so was very pleased when Laura wanted the second design developed more
Experiementing with different fonts and colours.
I wasn't happy with the design at this point as something just didn't feel right.

Narrowed the letters 'L' and 'S' and we have final design, but colour was still not decided upon
The easiest way for me to show Laura how her new logo would look was to take a screen grab of her website and add the logo to the image. Originally the left hand side of her website was a peach colour but on the omage I changed it to white as it gave it a fresher look. I emailed her a few images of her website with the logo in different colours. I then received and email from Laura saying "it might be boring but can I have the logo in one colour? a sivery grey?"
So sent her 3 images of the logo in 3 different shades of grey and she chose the one she liked best (it was also the one I'd have picked)
The Final Logo

It was a pleasure working for Laura and she is now a happy client who loves her new unique logo designed just for her.

The curved bottom of the L represents the caring hands that gently hold the baby while they are being photographed in some of the unusual poses. The hearts represent all the love and care that is around the baby when they are in Laura's photography studio and the circular design could represent the lens of the camera.

Laura, an award winning baby photographer,  has now updated her website with her new logo. Pop over to her website and view her portfolio.
I also sent her a white logo file which she uses as a watermark on some of her photographs.
