Beginning of Metal Work

Metal
Rachel Chertoff
Just recently this year I discovered how much I enjoy working with metal.  Jewelry class had opened my eyes to a whole new level of creativity.  I think of the metal as if it was fabric.  You can manipulate it in any way and is some what forgiving when it comes to mistakes.  I will have more photos to add to this in the future.
Mini Rocking Horse

All hand cut brass with wood grain etching (using PNP paper) and copper saddle finished with liver of sulfur.  The level rivets within the horse are copper as well with copper wire.
Restriction Rings

All rings (9) are 100% sterling silver with nickel jump rings soldered (all jump rings were hand made as well) with hand made nickel chain mail connecting all nine of the rings.  This piece was about restricting the movement of your hands and how the chains are very limiting and allow you to move a little but then stop you and if you bend your fingers, it will hurt a little.

Beginning of Metal Work

Like my fashion work, these were assignments but it wasn't hard getting me to work on it. I enjoy working with metal just as I do with fabric.
