Prague Quadrennial Venezuela

Juan Souki, theater director and the founder of Imaginarios de Venezuela, was invited as the curator from Venezuela to the Prague Quadrennial 2015. He designed the concept for the display based on the actual political situation in our country, the police's abuse of power against manifesters that contradict the goverment's view and actions.

The display consisted on an acrylic cube surrounded by the artwork printed in vinyl. This artwork had see-through parts where the inside of the cube could be seen from the outside. Inside, the cube's walls were coated with full scale vinyl prints of photos taken at some of the protests in Venezuela and, in the center of the cube, a "dead body" of a student laid on the floor.

The first side of the cube displayed the information regarding the situation in Venezuela, the other 3 panels displayed the information for 4 theater plays that were successful in our country, these being Crimen y Castigo (Crime and Punishment), High, Sangre en el Diván (Blood in the Chaise Long) and Travesía (Crossings).

I was in charge of the overall design, layout, photos and typeface selection. The display had pens attached to it so that the public could write messages of support onto the artwork making it an immersive experience for the audience.
