The new identity for Cheyenne and Nigel from Rudolph Clay Studios is inspired by scallop design patterns—a common thread between both artists’ visually contrasting work. Our design challenge was to create an identity that fits both talented artists’ aesthetics. For this project, we worked with the talented illustrator Camille Demarinis to help bring the identity to life.
The website is home to the work of Cheyenne and Nigel. While they share many of the website pages — such as the about, news, shop, and contact, both artists also have sections that provides information about each one of them, individually.
The use of color in these sections echoes their strikingly unique style of work. The bright and vivid colors in Cheyenne’s section highlight the pop tones of her work. Whereas the subdued tones in Nigel’s section draw attention to the browns, blacks and reds used in his work.
The website taps into their Instagram account, while also presenting their established Etsy store directly onto the website. Visitors are able to view all of their products for sale through Etsy and click into each product to view more information about the piece, additional photos and ability to “Add to Cart” without leaving the website. This functionality presents an almost seamless experience, without the need to build a complete e-commerce system into the website.
