Tranquility of Blood

Tranquillity of Blood is a film of the state of mind, great reflections and even greater decisions made in a little village shaped by the long-standing customs and tradition. This movie is about a man and a woman who lost their son several years ago in a misfortunate conflict with the son of their first neighbours who killed him in negligence. Since the man had promised to take the revenge in his lifetime, neighbours sent their son abroad where he stayed and continued his life. The movie starts with the man’s funeral at a small cemetery in the presence of a few people, including his wife. That same night, the woman goes to the cemetery and disinters the coffin her husband was buried into. With the help of his wife, the man comes out of the coffin, barely breathing. A narrow path takes them to the abandoned mill. The mill has already been set for his stay. With his false death, the man wants to deceive the killer of his son to return to his birth place, as he hasn’t seen his parents for several years, since the promise says he is the only one to take the revenge. He stays at the mill for several months waiting for the neighbour to return. His wife provides him with food and clothes and watches over the neighbours through the window of her house. After spending a few months in the mill, the man gradually changes his mind and realizes that what he needs to do is pointless. One morning, the neighbour arrives to his parents’ house. The woman sees that and goes to the mill to inform her husband that the day when he will revenge his son has come.
