Maya, Mental Ray, Photoshop, and Realflow. This was my senior project during my last full year at TCNJ. As a dual major in both computer science and media, my task was to combine the knowledge of my two concentrations to complete a single project. My main goal was to study how particles can be used to simulate flocking. The particle flock located inside the marble was created based on the "boids" algorithm. This is represented by the glowing pink orbs seen orbiting within the marble. I also used this as an opportunity to learn liquid simulations within Realflow.
This was a very early maya test of the flocking algorithm. It was simply a way for me to feel out where I wanted to go with the project. I was playing with the particle modifiers as well as having two sets of particles follow each other.
Screenshot of my scene within Realflow. You can see I used a number of Daemons to achieve the current enclosed within the marble's surface.
