This is a new-found sketchbook, with drawings and sketches seemingly made by Katsushika Hokusai. This is, however, signed by his daughter, Katsushika Oei, which leads to a thought that Hokusai's latest prints were, in fact, made by his talanted daughter to save her dying father's reputation as one of the leading artists of Edo Japan.
Hokusai's self-portrait. This shows how old and weak he has become. Looking at the quality of line and the posture of the figure, leaning of a walking stick, this is a potential proof of Hokusai not being able to create such detailed and complicated prints, with such precision of line and colour.
Front cover of the found sketchbook. This is not well-preserved, therefore the name is almost faded out. This does, however, read: Katsushika Oei.
First few pages from the sketchbook. These were thought to be Hokusai's sketces for some of his "manga" volumes.
The new discovery leads to a thought that these are his daughter's sketches.
Observations from people. Emotions and expressions.
A sketch found in the sketchbook, which is a pre-drawing of one of the famous prints by Hokusai "The 36 Views of Mount Fuji". This is potentially the strongest proof of Hokusai's latest works being made by his daughter.
The project aim was to create a fake story and make people believe in it. All of this work was created by myself in order to sell this story. Did you believe in it? Even for a second?
