Northstar Neuroscience Cortical Stimulation Device

Northstar Neuroscience Cortical Stimulation Device
A medical device solution used that delivers therapies for the treatment of major depressive
disorders.  This four part hardware solution plus programming user interface consists of a handheld programmer device, an implantable control device, a cortical stimulation lead, and PocketPC handheld device with custom programming user interface.  My direct contribution was the design of the handheld programmer device and the aesthetic appearance of the cortical stimulation lead.  I collaborated with Northstar Nueroscience's engineers and Teague's interaction design team on the programming user interface.
I was the program manager, lead designer, and built a 3 person consulting team and 6 person design team to help support this design effort.  The design effort included research, design concepts, CAD modeling, color/material/finish specifications and preliminary engineering.
Handheld programming device (shown at right) with cable connection attached to standard Pocket PC product.  The hardware design and programming user interface were developed collaboratively by the Teague design team.
