As I was strolling down the trail at Bird Point on a school art trip, a light caught the corner of my eye; it was a tree hole completely rotten through.  I have never seen something like this before and I knew it was something I had to capture onto a canvas.  Along with my fascination with photography and the camera which I did not have with my, I envisioned an image which would have been captured by a camera, exemplified by the defocused background.
