The Faculty of Music and Visual Arts and the Medical School of University of Pécs had invited students for a competition to design the logo and identity of the revamped Nádor Gallery in February, 2014. I won the first prize in the competition, so my work was realized. My concept was based on the mixture of classic and modern, youthful styles. I wished to create a typographic logo, which shows the linkage between the two faculties and which also illustrates the ancestral history of the building. Having studied the fonts I decided to choose the classicist antiqua font. For my logo the Bodoni font was perfect, which I altered by fracturing and changing of the curves. From the connection of the minuscules of the letters “a” and “m” I created a letter “n”. Into the negative space of the bowl of the letter “a” a plus sign was placed, symbolizing the connection between the two faculties (Arts and Medical). Where the connection happens, there is nothing else but the letter “n”, whiche simbolizes the former Nádor Hotel. My primary goal was to impress with the form and not with the colors. As a complementary color I picked sun yellow which is a obtrusive but also a nice, warm color. On the right side of the logo the full name of the institute had been placed with a grotesque, capital PF Din font type. When creating the identity I intended to use elegant, simple solutions. On its color scheme I preserved this pure style. In print, the business card is a 9x5 cm collapsible card, where the connected curves of the “a-m” are cut out and their black colour only appears on the inner side. The stationary can be digital and printed, the later with Z-fold. For the envelope I had chosen a yellow paper of more exclusive material with the logo only. For the structure of the website I concentrated on creating user friendly elements. The background image is continuously changing, photos are shown from the picture gallery. Images of the art pieces and photos of the atmosphere of the current events are also shown.
