Lotus is an alphabetic system designed specifically to be used abstractly, not necessarily functionally,by way of shadow and layering letters are meant to be placed and manipulated one by one, as to best suit the purpose at hand, even if the end goal is just to create an abstract composition. The name is derived from the how when the shapes overlap it gives the visual impression of white petals, and the lotus in particular in the “M” and “W” letter forms.
Depicted below the type exploration is an application of the letterforms as a redesign of the album FROOT by Marina and the Diamonds.
