The project is located in a dense area of the city of Porto Alegre, with basic services nearby and close to downtown. Due to the dimensions of the plot, which was narrow and long, the solution to accommodate apartments of two rooms and studios had to be creative and strategic, bearing in mind that all the dwellings had to have access to sunlight. Aligned with the municipal constraints as well as with the intentions of the developer, the two bedroom apartments were put on the extremities of the plot, so the smaller studios could fit in the middle and have plenty access to ventilation and solar radiation. This project decision led to a dynamic interior façade, where the windows are narrow and have blinds in order to control the solar gain over the day. The position of the building also contributes for a fair distribution of the solar radiation, as the internal façade faces north and the smaller ones face east and west. The portico, which frames the main façade, not only works as an aesthetic element, but also shades the windows during the morning. In addition, the balconies take part on the composition and enlarge the living rooms as well.
