Inspired Fashion Illustrations

The brief was to create a series of 6 illustrations inspired by one designer or collection in particular. Having an appreciation for Christopher Kane's work lead me to immediately be set on representing his work in a creative and unique way. I began by selecting a collection that I felt drawn to. As a designer I feel a deep connection to his way of thinking and the way he uses visual prints and textures to amplify his work often most inspired by nature and the universe. The 2011 Resort collection is a striking line up of bold galaxy inspired prints with floating silhouettes, both elements that I wanted to experiment with creatively.

I experimented with a variety of mediums to achieve effective nebulae replications which I then enhanced through Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

From this I began to work on a variety of illustrations that I felt would work well combined with the nebulae replications and add a further futuristic element to the project. From experimenting I decided to work with silhouettes that would add to the idea of the subject floating in zero gravity matching the feeling of Christopher Kane's collection.

From this I returned to Adobe Photoshop to further combine the images, playing with a variety of overlays until I achieved my desired looks. I feel the final 6 images deeply reflect Christopher Kane's ethos from his collection and reflects it in a very visual way that mimics his own design process.
