Sound Wave Alphabet: interpretation

This is an alphabet produced from sound waves, each letter I have recorded with my own voice into a microphone to produce the outcome of each letter. I have used Audacity to produce the final image

I have chosen to use this, as one of my final pieces because this has shown how I first started. My aim for this project initially was the study of typography although after research through the Internet and books, I found speech spectrographs interesting. I wanted to learn something I knew very little about, I wanted to also show this within my final pieces.

A spectrograph is the visual outcome of our voice seen visually through a computer screen. Showing how the alphabet looks with the idea of using a spectrogram result has shown how the alphabet can be produced to create a new and interesting way to approach typography. I feel it is important to show a designer’s approach to spectrograms.
