While studying abroad in Australia, I enrolled myself in my first studio lighting class. Our final project focused on imitation of a famous artist or work of art. I chose to imitate the styles of Imogen Cunningham and Robert Mapplethorpe and their photographs of the calla lily. By incorporating my new-found knowledge of the studio lights with my own technique and artistic style, I was able to recreate their iconic black and white images.
