“Seeing is understanding” is a project created to assess the effectiveness of graphic design as a tool to visualize complex spiritual theories, using symbolic abstract representations. The selected theories, presented in the form of text contained in each image, are some of the central ideas of Anthroposophy – a spiritual philosophy, founded by Rudolf Steiner. The result is a series of graphic posters aiming to explain the underlining ideas through visual forms. The careful selection of colours, vector shapes and the implemented photographic images, all combined in harmony and balance, create a symbolic visual language corresponding to the message. The final purpose of this project is to visually engage the viewer, create further interest in what is being illustrated and after reading the text – to understand the connection between the visuals and the ideas behind them.
