HORT+BROKE=PAPER SHOES

I'm a big fan of HORT and recently I watched a video of Eike Koenig from HORT talking about their workshops. They don't allow computers in their workshops and only work with their hands. At the same time I was looking at shoes that I couldn't afford to buy. So the idea came about to do some hands on work that dealt with shoes, that way I can have some shoes and gain some experience at the same time.
The first shoe was a test to see if I could come up with something I was happy with. I was just cutting paper and testing to see what I could do with it. I was satisfied with the results and realized that this was something I could do.
For the next shoe, I wanted to do a boot style shoe. I thought that the color and thickness of cardboard would give the impression of leather. I was happy with the results, so I finally got enough confidence to move on to the most complicated shoe.
The adiZero Crazy Light shoes was what I had in mind when I started this project. This was the shoe I was looking at but couldn't afford. I knew because of the amount of curves and details this shoe had, I had to slowly build up my skills to tackle it on. I love the black and red color of Crazy Light so I decided to use construction paper this time. After much trail and error, I finally finished and I spent only less than 5 dollars. Honestly, I wouldn't have worn the real version because I wouldn't want them to get dirty. So this paper version makes for a great substitute.
THANKS.
