Unzen  (Nagasaki - Japan)
12 volunteers. (6 Japanese, 6 International: 2 Korean, 1 Greek, 1 French, 1 Italian, 1 Spanish )
Organized together with Unzen Social Welfare (a semi-governmental) Association since 1994.

The first location was in Kunimi, a small town under Unzen Volcano,  and Minami-takaki a neighboring town about 80 km east of Nagasaki, very famous as a symbolic place against nuclear war. Kunimi town has been incorporated into Unzen city. Unzen is very famous for football in Japan.
The workcamp was quite successful in encouraging Summer Volunteer School (SVS) that was held for 3 days to promote volunteering and international friendship with about 20 local kids aged 10-18 .
We run an international exchange program with about 20 local girls and boys within the ages of 10 to 15.
We worked on a garden around old samurai residences which is designated as important cultural properties with local volunteer groups.
We took care for elderly people at a nursing-care facility and at a Social Welfare Center where we also have day-care facility.

We brought information and knowledge from our countries and together we success in the organisation of the workcamp.
