The Scrimshander 2014
The chosen theme of this edition of The Scrimshander was Homer's epic, The Odyssey. The two images that instantly came to my mind were of the sea and Ancient Greece. I based the book's color scheme and the recurring motif of Greek meanders on these images. I sought to create a book that integrated both antique and contemporary design qualities. I wanted my designs to be creative yet simplistic enough that they would not draw attention away from the true purpose of The Scrimshander—displaying the beautiful work of the talented women who are privileged to be published in it.
