Mahabelly Restaurant Branding

Mahabelly
Malayalee Cuisine Restaurant

Mahabelly is a contemporary Malayalee cuisine restaurant, recently opened in Saket, New Delhi. The restaurant aims to introduce the Delhi audience to a modern dining experience of authentic Kerala fare.

The name Mahabelly is derived from the story of Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala that celebrates the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali.

For the restaurant logo we wanted to create a mascot of King Mahabali.

After initial iterations we decided to work with the character in silhouette

For the menu design we tried two directions - illustrations of the Onam story and patterns inspired by Kerala's culture and cuisine.

Menu Iterations

For the final menu design we used the Onam story option.

We also provided art work for the restaurant interiors. Keeping in mind the contemporary Malayalee theme we used prints of The Malayalee Alphabet by Taarika John for the walls.

We also created an invitation for the restaurant opening as well as letterheads and other branding collateral.
