New Website for the Association for Women in Computing

Design Process
I created this website for the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing, a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage and support women in the computer and technology fields.

It was important for them to have an Events Calendar, since they hold many events throughout the year, including monthly dinner meetings with speakers, workshops, tips and tricks sessions, and social networking gatherings. The event calendar can be viewed as a monthly calendar or as a list of upcoming events. The list of events is also prominent in the side bar. The description for each event is enhanced by a photograph of the speaker, and easy to read  information on the event date, time, location, and cost, as well as an interactive map for members who come from all parts of northern NJ. Members can see at a glance what events are planned.

I also wanted to show that this is a vibrant group of modern women, so I included photos of its members presenting scholarships to young women and networking. I used photographs with white backgrounds. Colorful accent colors contribute to the overall feel of the website.

The group now has a new blog called Bits & Bytes, where they can post articles of interest and general news. There are also links to their Facebook, LinkedIn, and Meetup pages.

This website was created using WordPress, so that the AWC-NNJ members can easily update and maintain their own site.
