SYZYGY was a project to create original album art from start to finish that fit both with the band’s explosive sound and the meaning of the record title. The word “syzygy” means the alignment of celestial bodies, such as a solar or lunar eclipse, and is often associated with a time of great transitional change and the potential for great outburst of creativity and energy. Following this idea of expansive creation I used a mixed media approach, combining dripped wax, hand drawn illustration, and digital manipulation to accomplish the task.
