Le mani si toccano applaudendo in modo sarcastico. Questo gesto, infatti, esprime tutto tranne che l’intento di fare i complimenti a chi ci è di fronte.
The hands are touching clapping sarcastically. This gesture, in fact, expresses anything but the intent to make compliments to whoever is in front of us.

La mano simula la forma della cornetta del telefono e viene avvicinata all’orecchio.
Il gesto che rappresentava la telefonata veniva già incluso nel testo di Munari, ma rappresentato in maniera diversa a causa della differente forma dell’apparecchio telefonico. Ai tempi delle prime edizioni il telefono era quello con disco combinatore: di fatto nel gesto la mano indicava l’orecchio e l’indice formava dei movimenti circolari come se componesse un numero di telefono.
The hand mimics the shape of the phone and is closer to the ear.
The gesture which was the phone call was already included in the text of Munari, but represented differently due to the different shape of the telephone. At the time of the first editions the phone was rotary dialing: in fact the hand gesture indicated the ear and the index formed a circular motion as if to compose a phone number.

La mano si alza d’istinto con il palmo rivolto a chi son riferite le scuse. Molto simile al gesto «Aspetta un momento» rappresentato da Munari, viene effettivamente molto usato nel traffico per chiedere scusa all’autista della macchina accanto in caso di sgarbo o di mancato rispetto del codice stradale.
The hand goes up instinctively with the palm facing to those whom the apology goes. Much like the gesture "Wait a minute," represented by Munari, it is actually widely used in traffic to apologize to the driver of the car next to you in case of rudeness or lack of respect of traffic laws.

Il gesto indica che qualcuno accanto a noi è matto. Il movimento circolare di fatto cerca di simulare le rotelle del meccanismo del cervello che talvolta si inceppano.
The hand comes close to the ear and makes circular movements.
The gesture indicates that someone next to us is crazy. The circular movement in fact tries to simulate the wheels of the mechanism of the brain that sometimes jam.

L’indice punta in alto e gira mentre il resto delle dita si chiude a pugno sulla mano. Generalmente compiuto insieme ad uno sguardo vago e ad un fischiettio fintamente rilassato, il gesto indica il vano tentativo di far credere di essere ignari della situazione appena accaduta.
The index points up and twists while the rest of the fingers on the hand is closed into a fist. Generally completed together with a dreamy look and whistling in a falsely relaxed way, the gesture indicates the vain attempt to pretend to be unaware of the situation which just happened.

Le mani si avvicinando come se tenessero uno smartphone e i due pollici si muovono come per simulare la scrittura di un messaggio.
È uno dei gesti più giovani, nato assieme alle tecnologie più recenti, per questo non viene sempre capito dagli over 50.
The hands come together as if they were approaching a smartphone and the two thumbs move as to simulate writing a message.
It is one of the younger gestures , born together with the latest technologies, this is not always understood by the over 50s.
