An award-winning anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, Dr. Brian Klagges currently serves as a partner in the largest anesthesiology group in southern New Hampshire. Dr. Brian Klagges also maintains membership in numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
ASA recently announced the initiation of its national project to improve patient care before, after, and during surgical procedures. To support the ASA Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) Learning Collaborative, more than 40 of the nation’s top healthcare organizations have joined in the network. The group met for the first time in July 2014 in Illinois, and participation in the collaborative is expected to increase. Led by physicians, the collaborative will investigate strategies to enhance patients’ surgical experience, decrease expenses, and increase positive results.
PSH will use an evidence-based approach to improve best practices in hospitals and medical clinics around the country. By implementing coordinated care models in these facilities, PSH is expected to achieve specific results like reducing surgery delays and lowering the number of complications.
