Community Kitchen (2013)

Community Kitchen
Part of a voluntary group project
Made by:
Architects, Designers, Artists and Social representatives.

The plan was to make a community kitchen inside a ghetto.
All to minimize a serious bunch of unwanted problems that were making the lives of this real poor people and immigrants even harder.
The main issue was to bring potable water to the center of the ghetto.
In between social bonds were created with the inhabitants and even themselves became part of the project, as designers.

I participated as a helping hand Designer just to augment their creativity.
This is the 3D mock-up of the architects for the kitchen.
This are some photos of the fun and art activity created by the children and some adults living there in order to find a symbol/Logo that would represent their ghetto and their future giant kitchen.
This activity was made possible by the social activists.
This were some of the selected symbols.
On top (xyz) we have a: Woman carrying water on her head (WATER)
In the middle (1234):  One Cabbage leaf (FOOD)
On bottom (ABC): A rocky or adobe-like boby structure (PERSON)

This is when I was invited to join and be part of the project and as a designer was given to me the responsability to create patterns with this symbols.
Next you'll see some examples of what I came up with...

WATER
FOOD
+FOOD
PEOPLE

To finish I just like to say that this project is on going, the kitchen is real and stands now on solid ground with potable water. Follow the link so you can see it on facebook
