Indian Digital Heritage, Hampi Project

Representation of Art, Artifacts and Architecture of Hampi Bazaar from a Design Perspective
Supported by the DST (Department of Science and Technology, Government of India), the Indian Digital Heritage Project-Hampi involved the study and documentation of the art of ornamentation of the Virupaksha Temple and the Hampi Bazaar streets along with the artifacts used during the Rathotsava, the annual festival which celebrates the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the study of the architectural style, elements and the areas of the temple that are used during the celebrations.

Process
1. Classification of videos and photographs taken during the visit
2. Study and map out the architectural component/ needs (ritualistic and public) for the festival
3. Document the artifacts used for Rathotsava
4. Photostitching of Virupaksha Street plans
5. Measured drawings or mandapas and comparative analysis
6. Core data index and object ID
7. Architectural elements of Hampi Bazaar Street
Collected information and photographs of the different ceremonies and rituals during Rathotsava.
The collected data was then mapped down based on the rituals performed during the festival.
