This particular project was submitted to a furniture design competition organized by IKEA in Kuwait. The requirement was to pick a product and change it's function.
 
I chose to utilise the EKBY ROBERT wall bracket shown below:
The IKEA product above changed from being a wall mounted bracket to being used as the base of an ottoman I chose to call GRAONDID.
 
CONCEPT
While watching my brothers play cards on the floor, I got inspired to celebrate our tendency and preference, as Arabs, to sit on the ground.  Thus, I decided to create a table that would be at a comfortable level for them to play cards on. The slight padding on the top makes it also function as a seat, as well as a foot-stool.
 
Below is the resulting furniture piece:
This piece is utilitarian, thus can be used as a low table, a seat, or a foot-stool.
Tesselated reliefe surface padded for comfort.
