The goal of this project was to design a tea cup to suit a tea pot designed by other student at the University of Johannesburg.
The tea pot was a ceramic re-make of a traditional South African enamel tea pot. The tea cup I designed mimics enamel cups. This is an interesting element as a user will pick up the cup, expecting it to be enamel.
As these traditional enamel cups do not have saucers I made saucers that are ginger biscuits (either to be used to store a tea cup or enjoyed with tea).
I had a lot of fun with the exhibition of the project. I incorporated antique tea spoons, windmills and doilies to give the exhibit a South African feel.
