"A Translation of Bamboo"  18 x 24" Mixed Media, Spring 2011
This piece explores the many variations of bamboo by using different mediums in each piece. This piece is also what I consider to be the start of my growth as an artist and a designer. Through this piece I began to understand the importance of visual unity and craftsmanship.
"The Phoenix"  14 x 14 x 14 " Woodcraft, Spring 2011
This piece was the Thought Model companion to my Thought Map and Thought Translation in Design Thinking. This piece is very special to me because it forced me to conquer one of my fears, the wood shop. After this project I felt more confident in the wood shop and it introduced me to manipulating wood which is now one of my favorite mediums.
"Male Figure" 7 x 10" Graphite, Spring 2011
In the Spring of 2011, I took a Figure Drawing course. This piece is one of my most complete sketches and was done on one of the last days of class. Drawing nude figures helped me improve my line quality and my concept of proportion, as well as my knowledge of how the body looks in different positions. Drawing the human figure is very enjoyable for me and I am always seeking to improve my skill in that area.
"Legwarmer" 9 x 4 " Synthetic Yarn, Fall 2011
This summer a good friend of mine showed me how to knit. Since then I have been fascinated with fibers and learning how to make my own clothing. I knitted these legwarmers and then wove a brown suede cord into the cuff. I then added braided suede tassels and feather accents to the cuff. While making these I was influenced by images of Native American culture and the colors of  Autumn.
"Undulating Frills" 20 x 20" Paper Weaving and Acrylic Stamping, Fall 2011
"Spirit Totem"  28 x 20" Rebar Wire, Fall 2011
