How easily we become used to a routine! How easily we loose sight of the rhythms and relationships the structures of our lives create! Track laps send us circling. Pool laps bounce us back & forth. And what sits in our laps, at the end of the day?
Laps (a book for two) interrogates such rhythms & structures through a performative, partnered reading experience. Too physically large to be handled by a single person, the readers must collaborate, moving their bodies to experience the text. Language is the constant choreographer of our bodies, the medium in which we build all relationships. A book is a play space for such language, which we hold in our hands, our arms, our laps.
