UC Merced - SS+M

The Social Sciences and Management Building is the fourth academic hall at the new University of California campus in Merced. Consisting mostly of classrooms on the lower level and two floors of faculty offices and labs the building shifts character at its eastern edge, reflecting the arts programs located there. The eastern section of the building also defines the current edge of the campus and will serve as a gateway marker once the second portion of the campus is built to the west. Within the atrium a a freestanding two-story conference facility references the rocky outcroppings of the Sierra Nevada mountains visible though the large expanse of glass at the end of the space.
