This is th base image. Using only the natural light from the window on the right. This photograph started as a portfolio image for the model, Ava Sheffield. I used Ava in several of my images because she understands direction and that what makes a great model.

Sooner and later you've got to make that first attempt. This is it. It's not very good, in fact it's pretty bad! Yet, it showed me what I didn't want. It also made me realize I didn't want a model with furniture in the forest. If that was the case I could have dragged that couch down to the woods and made the image.
My next stab at it was to "paint" the forest in the room. That felt much better, and feeling is everything when working with composites. This first "study" allowed me to ponder my next steps.
From that pondering I realized I need to place the model and furniture on a separate layer. Now I coud work the elements behind the model freely.
This was my first cleanup image. Here I began to create the "Living Room" elements. Now the room and the forest were beginning to work more as a uniquely unified space.
This little bird is one of the detail elements I placed in the image. I feel that these small elements and details help bring "life & believability" to the image. I want th viewer to discover and explore the image.
The final image, so far! The concept of this image is based on the Gaia Principle. That the Earth is a living being that we live with.
