A collection of my 10 favorite images taken in 2014.  Enjoy!
Double-Crested Cormorant

Taken on the cliffs in La Jolla, California.  I just love the breeding colors and the crest, they don't get that vibrant in Florida.
Tree Swallow

It is rare to capture a tree swallow not in the air, and I just loved the morning light.  Taken at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California.
Gadwall

Of the many species of ducks at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California the Gadwall is the least colorful, but is still my favorite.  I like the pose in this image, and the simple and not distracting background.
Pionono

I began volunteering at an animal shelter this year, and in November I was able to start taking pictures of the dogs.  Taken at the Pet Alliance Animal Shelter in Orlando, FL.  I have photographed dozens of dogs so far, but this picture was my favorite from the moment I clicked the shutter.
Blue Angels

While not one of my most unique airshow images, this was the first time I was able to use my birding lens (120-300mm) and a full frame camera (D600) at an airshow.  The detail and image quality just blows me away when compared to what I was taking ~8 years ago when I started in photography.  Taken at the NAS Jax Airshow in Jacksonville, FL
St. Andrews Pier (infrared)

Taken at the St. Andrews State Park near Panama City, FL.  During this trip to North Florida I was forced to use my D50 converted to infrared because my D600 was being serviced by Nikon.  It was a fun opportunity to see the world differently, and some of my favorite IR shots came out of this trip.  It was a bleak day, and I love the dreamy feeling of this image.
Nymph Lake

This is why I want to move to Colorado.  Taken at the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado
Ouray

On a whim, Amy and I signed up for our first Half Marathon in Ouray, Colorado.  We had no idea how beautiful this town would be, it was hard to take a bad picture of this place.  Taken from the Million Dollar Highway looking down onto Ouray.
Salk Institude

I had attempted to go to this place on a trip to San Diego last year but never made it.  The architecture here is so unique, and made for some very fun images.
New Hampshire Sunset

While visiting distant family in New Hampshire, I wandered a field next to their house at sunset and captured this image.  The colors were incredible.
