Design Gertrude Stein's poems in a way that reveals something about her writing. The book was hand bound and the cover hand carved. Then the two animations enhance the same idea from static print to digital animation. Designed with an emphasis on Gertrude's lack of structure in her language, I used sentence diagramming to reveal her stream of consciousness. While the book is laid out in a very user-friendly way; the reader will struggle between Gertrude's organic style of writing and my systematic structured design. Through that struggle, my goal is that the reader will eventually notice her heavy use of conjunctions, sentence fragments, and prepositional phrases.
