Marks & Spencer is a global company, manufacturing household products in China and marketing them in the UK and Europe. Wewere asked to take up design challenges to promote sustainable and user focused designs targeted towards their customers.
The project brief enabled me to explore and practice product design via a broader global, social and ecological context and work in design teams with international partners.
Research included analysing M&S sustainable policies and drawing inspiration from their 'Innovation Platforms'. A component of the brief was to incorporate recycled plastics into the design using concepts of 'closed loop' recycling and 'end of life' solutions.
Regular distance interactive communication between design teams in Falmouth and Hong Kong took place. Skype meetings facilitated working together, idea generation, discussions and shared presentations to transpire across the globe.
