Periodical outdoor markets are an important feature of the urban fabric in Turkey. They become the social hub of the neighborhood for one day of the week. Market Loop is an exploration for a new type of outdoor market that is a new layer of urban activity, a point of reference in the city and a structure that gives the neighborhood an identity.
The site is an oddly shaped piece of land in between buildings that consists of 2 main spaces that are connected with a transitional space. The structure is a continuous strip that emphasizes this divide and connects these 2 spaces without interrupting the main traffic that intersects the site.

There is a 30' height difference from one end of the site to the other which is utilized to create entry points from different points which makes the entire loop wheelchair, bike,  stroller and cart accessible.
It is a dense neighborhood with lots of housing and commercial activity but the area lacks a public space that people can use for recreational and cultural purposes. Market Loop creates the much needed public spaces by defining the main spaces as vibrant urban squares. The loop itself serves as a track that can be used for various recreational activities when it is not used as a market.
