CLC Zero Waste Design Lab

These pieces were designed and created with the idea of revamping the image of plastic by recycling, upcycling, and repurposing plastic materials that may otherwise have ended up in a landfill. The class, which included eight fashion majors and one sculpture major, worked with a variety of materials to create fifteen looks for SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. The following looks are those which I worked most closely on.
Photographs by Faisal Mohammed. Hair and makeup by Kiev Osborne. Model: Patricia Machado.
Gown made from a military parachute manufactured in 1966 and an old military sleeping bag. Necklaces and ring by LaTonya Lark. 3D printed bracelet, top, collaborative effort.
Gown made from a 1996 parachute, in collaboration especially with Aashita Sheth. Necklace from acrylic chandelier pieces and reused pleather, made by Adewunmi Adetayo.
Cape made from repurposed plastic playpen balls and bubble wrap. Bikini made from repurposed surgical cover sheets. Necklace by LaTonya Lark.
