Color Contract Proof Specialization

Color Contract Proof Specialization
Sample comparison, digital prepress proof and press production proof.
My involvement with this project includes:

• Prepress Project Manager
• Prepress Color Manager
• Print Quality Manager
• Prepress Production Art Manager
• Prepress Flexographic Color Separation
• Prepress Process Color Matching
• Prepress Color Technician
• Prepress Digital Proofing

This project required a lot of my hands-on involvement as a project manager. I administered the print supplier qualification press run on a narrow web Inline Roto-International press, applying color management with fingerprint and characterization test files for capturing spectrophotometer data readings.

An ICC profile was created in order to reproduce press characteristics on a Epson digital inkjet printer while utilizing GMG rip software. This art was generated as four-color process.
The graphic elements were provided as vector shapes. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black values were adjusted to color match the customers provided Lego pieces. Predetermining the press characteristics allowed for a predictable and achievable Epson color contact proof.
Press printing configurations for this project include:

• Inline Roto-International Flexo press
• Interactive Inks & Coatings - Waterbase Inks
• Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black
• 800 Line Anilox
• 1.9 Ink Volume
• DuPont Cyrel DPL plates
• 3M 1115 Sticky Back
• Surface Print
• Fasson Stock #2 White - 7.5mil/c25 Valeron
• Angles Cyan-82˚ Magenta-52˚ Yellow-7˚ Black-22˚
• Circular dot
• 150LPI
This narrow web Flexo press production proof was approved with no problems. The production run was a success. Checking spectrophotometer data tolerances and visually comparing the Epson color contract proof to the press production proof achieved press verification to the prepress characterization. Some slight three-color deviations were seen but considered very normal for this process.
The color contract proof utilized an Epson 4800, UltraChromeK3 Inks, and SemiGloss Paper. GMG RIP software was used for outputting the graphics as a simulated dot proof at 1440dpi.
