Project Description: The elements of typography are tedious and definitive, but that is what makes typography in design so effective. Through exploration of a specific font, various characteristics of Meta were defined. Those characteristics were then made into posters and "taught" the viewer was makes that font so unique. Content was then added to the poster, not only about the font but also about the designer, in this case, Erik Spiekermann. The characteristics of Meta are defined in these posters in numerous ways. Dissection, call outs, highlight and scale are all ways the viewer witnesses the specific qualities of Meta.
The final type posters include at least 12 individual characteristics of the font, the entire alphabet and numerals as well as the punctuation that Meta includes. The copy is a brief explanation of the history of Meta and the contribution of Erik Spiekermann to the typographical world.
