Many other brands do red holiday cups. Au Bon Pain had been doing the same as well. 

As Creative Director, I wanted our holiday cups to be distinctive and stand out. I led my team to develop a sliver background with white star design that brought a sense of excitement and the spirit of the holidays to our customers on hot cups, soup cups, gift cards and was reflected in other in-store signage.
