The result of researching into the spatial and ephemeral qualities of the Calcite crystal for my 2nd year design studio was a robust and complex geometric system that could be constructed. My system was put to the test at 1:1 when it was selected to be constructed as an exhibition space for the Mineral Architecture exhibition in 2009. The following images document the construction and final outcome of this interesting process.
The complexity of the spatial geometry required innovative ways in planning the construction process. Drawings had to be done to describe the fabrication of each individual panel as well as the sequence of how these panels came together.
