This is a personal project that I started recently. The idea was to design and make a working RC boat. Once the design was decided on I made a paper model of the design, you can see this in image 1 and 2.

To test the bouyancy of the design I made a paper mache version of the boat, to water proof it, and weighted it in a bathtub of water. It held up quite well so I began thinking about the next stage which was to make a fibre glass version which was the be the final product.
To make the fibreglass mold I first had to make a clay version of the boat. To do this I had to make two halves of the design, the top and bottom. This would allow me to make a carbon copy of the clay mold.
Below is the top half and the bottom half in their two separate entities before they became one.
I designed the bottom half in the shape of a 'W', this allowed the boat to be more bouyant than a normal pointed bottom. Also this makes the design look a bit nicer in my opinion.
This is where I began the fiber glass section. This stage is an ongoing stange which consists of sanding, filling and filler primer on a repeated basis.
Its just a matter of getting the boat as smooth as possible before I can start installing the electrics including the motors and the propellers.
