A furniture series designed for affordability. This is an attempt to offer finely crafted products at a reasonable price, without sacrificing an environmentally responsible process.
My goal to achieve low-cost production imposed many constraints, and I tried to use these constraints to create a fun and compelling design. Joints and structural elements are emphasized as design details, suggesting users to think about the process as well as the final product.
I created a setup that allowed cost-effective batch production, based on repeated use of only two types of joints for all pieces: mortise and tenon dowels, and dovetails which double as stretchers and also as drawer rails. This allowed for efficient production, and created a consistent design language.
