Miss Marks's profile

21, Faces in Camouflage

We live from moment to moment, existing on what we understand. What we see and how we feel are heavily influenced by an infinity of interrelated states of being. All forms of information can be enhanced or disguised through communication, how we decide to accept that information is subject to our genetic and our life memories which have been built on years of evolution.

I am interested in the art of Van Gogh, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Ron Mueck and Egon Schiele. For me each of the artists depicts people in a way that looks through form, colour and shape in order to depict the fragile center that lies within our minds. I love the stillness of the work, as if a feeling has been captured to be shared and contemplated.

In my picture below, I stripped away realistic form in attempt to convey mood through basic means. My aim was to create something figurative with mood in a colourful and abstract way.
